You can delete your CareTail account and the data stored with it at any time, in the app or by email. You do not need to reinstall the app to ask us.
1. Delete your account in the app
- Open CareTail and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to More › Delete account… (at the bottom of the list).
- Type DELETE and confirm.
We sign you out on all devices and delete your data straight away, as described below. This works the same on Android and iPhone.
2. Ask us by email, without the app
Write to [email protected] with the subject “Delete my CareTail account”. Send it from the email address of your CareTail account (for Google sign-in, the address of that Google account). If you signed in with Apple and hid your email, tell us that and the approximate date you signed up.
To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm the request from that address before we delete anything. We delete the account within 30 days, usually within a few working days, and confirm by email.
Before you delete
- Subscriptions are not cancelled automatically. Cancel CareTail Pro in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions) or in your Apple Account settings, otherwise the store keeps billing you.
- Keep a copy if you want one: More › Export my data creates a ZIP file with your records, photos and documents.
- Family: if other people are in your family, the shared pets and records stay with them and ownership passes to another member.
What we delete
- Your account: name, email address and sign-in identifiers (Google, Apple, email link).
- Your devices, notification settings, avatar, family memberships, open invitations you sent and sign-in links.
- If you are the only member of your family: your pets, care records, reminders, weights, medical cards, contacts, photos and documents, including the files in our cloud storage.
- If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke CareTail’s access to your Apple Account.
What we keep, and for how long

Using CareTail without an account
If you never signed in, your data is only on your device and we have none of it. Uninstall the app (or clear its storage) to delete it.
